A Message from Ray Veth and The Middletown Lions Hall Of Fame!!!!
To
the committee of the MTHS 1970 40 Year Class
reunion:
In
as much as we are in the spirit of giving
thanks, the Middletown Lion Hall of
Fame wishes to express our
gratitude to the MTHS 1970 Reunion
committee for your generous
donation. Just to fill you
in, along with recognizing so many of
our illustrious student-athletes &
coaches, the LHOF funds the Harold
"Bud" Foulks Scholarship. For those
who may not remember, Bud Foulks was a 1932
graduate of Leonardo HS, served as our Mayor
when we were in high school and was always
active with community affairs. Like
so many of you, he was a big advocate of
anything to do with the Orange and Black!!
Since
1991 we have recognized one male and one female
graduate of Middletown HS North with a
scholarship. We recognize students who
participated in a sport (did not have to be a
superstar), was involved in school and community
activities and has a financial need. The
latter criteria is an important factor.
This is quite heartwarming for the LHOF
Committee as there have been instances where our
scholarship made the difference as to whether or
not the student could afford college. In
the early years, we used to award $1000 per
student, but due to the economy we now can only
provide $500 per student. Thus, the MTHS 1970
donation is truly appreciated!
